Summer Reading Program offerings aboundThe Homer Public Library Summer Reading Program continues this month with weekly events, prizes, drawings and not one, but two parties! On Friday, July 2 at 11 a.m., SRP participants are invited to watch Wild Weather Magic School Bus movie at the Homer Public Library. The following week, on Friday, July 9 from 1-3 p.m., Carmen Field will host SRP participants at the Islands and Ocean Visitor Center to learn all about crabs. On Friday, July 16, from 2-4 p.m., an event will be held at the library geared for all pirates and pirate lovers! As part of the Summer Reading Program, youth of all ages invited to a Pirate Everywhere Party featuring Homer's original pirate Craig Phillips as well as other magical entertainers offering up pirate tales and talents. Come dressed as a pirate, eat cake, search for treasures and enjoy your library! Call 235-3180 for more information. The following week, Center For Alaskan Coastal Studies’ Beth Trowbridge will present “Water Olympics from 1-3 p.m. at the Homer Public Library. Last, but certainly not least, the annual All-You-Can-Eat Ice Cream Party will be held from 2-3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 31 at the Homer Middle School. SRP participants should bring their stamped reading logs with them. Consult your reading log to make sure you’ve got all the stamps you need to participate.
