Sparks for WritingIs your resolution to write in 2012 fading fast? Ignite your writing practice by attending February’s Get Lit! Sparks meeting on Tuesday, February 21st at 6:30pm. Bring your favorite writing prompt and we’ll exchange them; you’ll go home with many more ideas for keeping that writing practice going. After we exchange prompts, we’ll pick one and spend a little time investigating where it leads us. Then we’ll share what we’ve come up with. Writing prompts are a good way to establish a day-to-day writing practice that doesn’t rely on the fickle whim of the muse of inspiration. Make a commitment to your work.
Book Club - The SeamstressFebruary's pick is 'The Seamstress' by Frances De Pontes Peebles. As seamstresses, the young sisters EmÍlia and Luzia dos Santos know how to cut, mend, and conceal — useful skills in the lawless backcountry of Brazil, where ruthless land barons feud with bands of outlaw cangaceiros, trapping innocent residents in the crossfire. The Book Club meets regularly on the third Tuesday of each month in the Homer Public Library's Meeting Room. See you there! Tuesday, February 21st, 4:30-6:30pm |
