Managing Music is topic of this month’s beginning technology workshop

These days, proper music management has less to do with keeping your cd’s alphabetized and properly cleaned than it does with digital bits and bites. But how do you manage your iPod so you can find your favorite tunes when you want them, get new ones, and make your music and digital recordings a source of fun not frustration?
Ryan Ridge of Big Woofs Technology will unravel the riddle on Friday, Aug. 13 starting at 3:30 p.m.
In addition to this class, a Tech Help Session is held on a Friday of each month - this month on Friday, Aug. 6 at 3:30 p.m. at the Homer Public Library. Bring your questions and a pad and paper and let Ryan help you find the answers to your technology conundrums. The FHL beginning technology sessions are designed to help everyone have a chance to use technology to their advantage, and are open to all ages and experience levels.
The beginning technology sessions are free and open to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis. No registration is required prior to the class. For more information, call 435-3195.

“The Persian Boy” topic of upcoming book discussion group

August’s FHL Book Discussion Group book will be Mary Renault’s historical novel, ‘The Persian Boy.’
This book is the second in Renault’s trilogy based on the life of Alexander the Great, and is told through the eyes of Bagoas, a Persian eunuch who became Alexander’s intimate.
While it is based on historical characters, it is important to remember that this is fiction: however, Renault’s depiction of Alexander’s world, Greece and the East in the 4th century BC, is well-researched, intimate and human.
