FHL Volunteers Ready for Groundbreaking Procession

The Friends of the Homer Public Library, Inc. (FHL) is a not for profit 501(c)(3) community organization established in 1982 that encourages public use and enjoyment of the Homer Public Library’s services and facilities.  With the financial and volunteer support of its members, FHL provides resources for programs such as the Summer Reading Program, the Top Drawer Collection, pre-school story hour, and author readings, among others.  FHL volunteers work closely with Library staff to publicize the valuable tools and services available at the Library to all community members at no cost, without discrimination.

FHL also provides resources for capital improvements, including the recent New Homer Library Project Capital Campaign during which FHL and the City of Homer partnered to raise funds for the new Homer Public Library, completed in August of 2006.

The Friends of the Homer Public Library’s mission is to provide volunteer support for library programs and services, to raise funds that enrich the library experience and to promote the use and enjoyment of the library.

FHL is an organization whose success is the result of hundreds of hours donated by FHL volunteers and the financial contributions of its members.  Members and volunteers include residents of Homer, Kachemak City, Fritz Creek, Razdolna, Kachemak-Silo, Halibut Cove, Anchor Point, and Voznesenka.

FHL currently employs one part-time staff person who coordinates FHL’s ongoing projects.
