1948                 Spring book, baked goods and plant sale begins

 

1982                 Fall used-book Sale originates

 

1983                 Friends of the Homer Public Library established

 

1983                 Summer Reading Program established (ongoing)

 

1985                 National Library Week co-sponsored with library (ongoing)

 

1985                 Book-Bag fund raiser initiated (ongoing)

 

1985                 “Reading Between the Lines”, a seven minute radio spot on KBBI Public Radio, started (ongoing)

 

1987                 Top Drawer collection, works by local writers, started (ongoing)

 

1994                 Earthquake Book printed and sales begin (ongoing)

 

1994-2000         Murder Mystery Dinner Events, fundraisers for new library

 

2000                 Top Drawer program receives national Kingslover award

 

2002                 Began Capital Campaign for new library with City of Homer and Library Advisory Board; Provided operating funds for Capital Campaign budget including campaign coordinator

 

2003                                  Established Friends of the Homer Public Library Endowment Fund at the Homer Foundation with eye to library needs after new building is completed

 

2004                                  First strategic planning Board meeting held

 

2005                 New Library Project Capital Campaign ends with Groundbreaking event

 

2005                 FHL begins free program series including author visits and literacy workshops

 

2005                 FHL chooses new logo and launches its new website

 

2006                 FHL and the Homer Public Library publish first issue of the new newsletter, At the Library
